Home baking is a hobby enjoyed by lots of people, I think we all know someone who’s a dab hand in the kitchen don’t we?! A delicious cake is certainly the starting point for a great wedding cake but what about all those other factors that give a cake that professional finish? The essential knowledge of how to correctly stack and support a tiered cake so it’s perfectly level, how to get that clean, smooth finish on your icing. Even down to making sure flowers are correctly prepped sealed to make them food safe before being used to decorate a cake.
Making a nice sponge is one thing but creating a show stopper of a wedding cake is so much more.
Once you’ve found that supplier that you feel gets you and your style, get them booked as soon as you can!
Even if you aren’t entirely sure of the style of cake you’re wanting we can discuss your ideas and budget to make sure we are suited to each other before you can put down a deposit to secure your date. That will then give you the peace of mind to know you have booked a cake maker, we can then chat again once your further in the planning process to chat designs and flavours etc.
Wedding cakes are completely bespoke to you and your day. For this reason it can be difficult to know exactly how much to budget for your cake.
The size and style of your cake are the key factors in determining how much your cake will cost. For example a 2 tier semi naked cake will be cheaper than a 4 tier fully iced cake with handmade decorations. I believe chatting about your budget is an important conversation to have, not so that a supplier can then just charge you at that higher price bracket but to enable us to be able to design accordingly and get the most out of that budget for you.
All of my quotes are always inclusive of a taster box, delivery and set up on the day (set up would include things like making sure the cake display area is well presented and flowers appropriately prepped before using to decorate your cake etc). These aren’t ‘extras’ these are things that are a part of the service I offer and so you won’t find extra being charged for these things at a later date. Of course if I give you a quote based on a cake and at a later date key fact about that cake change (size or design etc) then prices my differ from that orginal quote but that is something that I would be up front about and discuss with you at the time. Price transparency in something that I believe is important and I’m always happy to discuss with my clients.
Absolutely! The key to creating your perfect wedding cake is listening to you and your ideas and vision for your day. Send me over you Pinterest boards, pictures of your center pieces, flowers… I love to see it all. The better I understand your dream day the better equipped I am to create your wedding cake of dreams.
Dietary requirements and allergies of yourselves and your guests are important things that I’d encourage you to discuss with myself from the beginning. It maybe that we can make the different tiers of your wedding cake suitable for different requirements. Or even perhaps a separate order of cupcakes to cater to those with certain requirements.
However, due to the nature of my kitchen and ingredients that are used regularly I may not be able to accommodate all allergies. If this was the case then I would be more than happy to recommend a more suitable cake maker to you.
Because your wedding cake is as important to me as it is to you. They are my passion and something that I will put my all into making perfect for you.
